Ioannis (John) Kalomiros received the degree of Physics and a Masters degree in Electronics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His first doctoral thesis (1989) is on the characterization of materials for micro-electronic devices. His second PhD thesis (2010) is on vision-based techniques for the localization of autonomous vehicles for real-time robotic applications.
He has collaborated with a number of research Institutes, like the Institute fur Angewandte Physik in Karlsruhe, Germany (1988-1989) and the Berliner Elektronenspeicherring-
He has co-authored two books (Tziolas Editions) and has written several tutorial notes. He is currently Professor at the International Hellenic University, Serres campus, Greece, Department of Computer, Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering. He teaches Analog and Digital Electronics, Embedded Systems and related subjects. He participates in two Editorial Boards of scientific Journals and in several Advisory Boards for International Conferences.
He is the President of the department of interior Design, School of Design Sciences of the IHU. He served as the director of the Post-Graduate Program in Robotics and is currently a member of its Steering Committee. He served for nine years (2016-2025) as the president of the Advisory Board of the Central Library of Serres, in Greece.
